Injured baby shot in the leg ‘in traveller feud’ recovers in hospital
A baby who was shot in the leg after getting caught up in an apparent traveller feud between families has been pictured in hospital. The image showed eight-month-old John Collins resting after his leg was broken in the attack at his home in Mulhuddart, Dublin, on Monday.
His house in Parlickstown was sprayed with pellets while he was inside with his mum Lynn Doyle, 29, and 17-year-old Matthew ‘Matsie’ Collins.
Ms Doyle ran to a family member’s house clutching her baby, who was bleeding.
‘John is still in hospital – he has a broken leg and ankle and has a cast on his leg,’ a relative, who wanted to remain anonymous, told the Irish Mirror. ‘He’s going to be okay but he is in huge pain – it’s shocking. There are pellets all the way down his leg and arm – they haven’t been able to take them all out.’ They added ‘Matsie’ was injured in the stomach and doctors had told him he was lucky to be alive. Ms Doyle, who was also in hospital after being hurt, called the attackers ‘scummy b******s’. They had attacked her home while she was putting up a Christmas tree.
